Proper attitude to natural environment is one of the key elements of our business strategy. We implement a verified model of co-existence between the manufacturing site and environment in each of our sites. Most products manufactured by us have an international FSC certificate confirming conscious utilisation of forest resources.

We are a responsible company and a company aware of its role in the community. Having started the investment in Poland, Kronospan successively implemented world quality management and production process safety management systems which significantly reduced influence of the sites on the environment. We invest in clean technologies and the most modern protection systems – all of this in order to ensure that the development of our companies meets the highest environment protection standards.

Implementation of rigorous control systems allows us to monitor production processes on an ongoing basis.

Taking care of inhabitants of the regions where our sites are located, we try to minimize effect of our activities on the environment – we install the most modern control-measuring instruments, active protection systems, we implement a series of preventative procedures.

It is essential for us to make sure that our suppliers deliver to us materials compliant with standards and high ecological requirements accepted by us. In all Kronospan sites the fleet of vehicles used for external transport has the latest generation catalytic converters minimising fume emission to the atmosphere. Furthermore, most external transport vehicles use natural gas as a fuel.

In order to reduce potential burden caused by enormous quantity of loads being transported, we utilise railway transport as much as it is possible which effectively relieves roads in the region of traffic.

Bearing in mind the condition of natural resources, we take care to check the proper origin of any timber material used by us, we also use our innovation allowing us to ensure timber waste materials are not used anywhere else on a large scale.

Kronospan’s products manufactured in this way enable us to considerably relieve the “green lungs” of Poland.

Our customers impose high requirements on us and they expect that the parameters of our products will meet standards used in their sites. Products manufactured by us are qualified to E1 European hygiene standard. Test and quality control methodology used in our laboratories is compliant with the European Union criteria. We are proud of the fact that as the only producer in the Polish market we can use the certificate of the Polish Society of Allergology on the floor panels offered by us. Kronoart technology patented by us received the prestige „Technology/Product Worth Recommending” title granted as a part of “Environment Friendly” contest. Each year the Group’s sites take part in the nationwide ecological campaign „Krono Tree” aimed at planting new trees and bushes.

We also actively support all initiatives focused on improvement of the natural environment condition – we stock reservoirs with fry, take natural monuments under our patronage, finance ecological projects with contribution of local governments. Our sites have modern dust extraction, noise absorption and effluent treatment systems. Semi-finished products used by us have documented origin and they are dispatched in recyclable packages. Careful selection of waste materials allow us to maintain full control over their proper reuse.

Similarly to Scandinavian technologies, we use wood-based fuels (grinding dusts, bark, timber waste materials). In addition, we use heat generated in the production process and also implement energy-saving technological innovations. Each of Kronospan sites has a special green protective strip which is an integral part of the environment.

Currently almost 98% of generated waste materials are reprocessed and reused. The remaining 2% (e.g. scrap metal, worn out tyres, batteries) are handed over to specialised companies dealing with industrial waste disposal.
